Eating like a zombie – braaaaaaaaaains: Restaurant Textúra (15. December 2018)

It was time to experience a truly interesting dish as a starter – “brain foam with crunchy pearl barley and honeycomb” (2’850 HUF). Not something for the easily disturbed as I must admit, the view isn’t too pleasant really. I mean, have you ever had a brain on your plate? I sure didn’t! But there is a time for everything, isn’t there? The brain was smooth and rich in flavour but also had a very interesting consistency I cannot quite describe. Worth trying in any case though.

The “beef in mustard sauce with brioche and mustard seeds” (4’850 HUF) was absolutely delicious. The meat wasn’t filet or the like but had rather heavy fat layers in it – yet, it was so smooth it would just melt in your mouth and was absolutely delicious! The mustard sauce and the mustard seeds really added to the dish as well as the tiny carrots.

The place has some cool decoration elements like a dwarf when you come down the stairs to the toilet.

The place is rather new to Budapest and has a super nice interior design, so you just somehow like it when you are there. It is highly recommended that you book a table in advance though as else you will most likely not be able to get the chance to eat here. All in all, I liked the Textura a lot – lovely place, good food, attentive and friendly service and last but not least, fair in price.
