When the line is huge it means the food is good: Hock Soon Roasted Duck Rice @ Maxwell Food Centre (2. January 2019)
A friend had recommended me to visit the Maxwell Food Centre which I did. Unfortunately, he didn’t remember the name or number of the stall so I decided to just go for the place with the longest queue. Given that they were almost sold out in most things which looked tasty (like the duck), I went for the “mixed meat rice” (3.50 SGD) which is basically pork mixed with pork. Yeah, two different cuts of pork. I guess you can also call that ‘mixed meats’. :)
The place is simple and provides tasty food. I mean, it was pork but it was actually good. Much better than I had expected. Just be careful with the spicy sauce as it is really damn spicy!
The food is prepared kind of right in front of your eyes and frankly rather ‘hands on’ but hey you get what you ask / pay for.
Then, you have to hunt for a table where there is no one yet so you can enjoy your meal in peace. Quick meal. Decent meal. Cheap meal. Worth an experience. If I had more time and wasn’t so stuffed from the evening before, I would have tried more dishes at the same area in different stalls. If you have the time, definitely a must do!
