Truly amazing Art Deco bar but shitty service: Atlas Bar (3. January 2019)
Two days ago I walked by the bar but it was still closed because of the NYE event they have had. But given the bar was somewhat breath-taking, I decided to go give it a try anyways and today was that day. Although it was 3pm the place was full. Lucky enough, there was still some space at the bar. The menu was brought within maybe one minute. And then the waiting begun. After waving at the lady who assigns the seats, I was able to place the order. And then the waiting continued – for a solid 20 minutes until the drink was finally served.
The “Tamara in the Green Bugatti (modern French gin, lavender tincture, mint, lemon, sugar)” (24.00 SGD) is not a particularly complicated drink but it was admittedly very tasty. However, the rather huge chunk of ice somehow makes you regret a bit that you’ve ordered it.
What is amazing though is the Art Deco styled bar! Just truly impressive and truly amazing …
… I think I haven’t seen something like that ever. Definitely amazing overall!
Frankly, if it was just for the service or even the drinks (although they were good), I wouldn’t come here again but the place is so damn lovely you definitely have to see it and to spend some time here. It is great.
Also, be aware to book in advance for the evening plus to have your dress code correct – no shorts or slippers after 5pm. Worth going – just for the building!
