Super friendly service and good local food: Restaurant São Pedro (6. January 2019)

| May 7, 2019 | 0 Comments

The light in the São Pedro restaurant is a bit special as everything is somewhat blueish (which you can also see in the pictures). The waiter takes care of you immediately and makes you feel very welcome right away. As soon as you are seated they bring you a small selection of “cheese, sweet paste, curry, and queso fresco” (EUR 5.50) and a basket of bread which is quite a nice way to start your dinner.

As a starter I then went for the “calamares” (EUR 7.50) which were good but there was plenty of batter which could definitely have been a bit less. With the salsas they served, the dish is good though.

What I really liked was the “Azorean liver (veal, garlic, pepper, egg, and mashed potatoes)” (EUR 14.50). Not so much because of the egg (didn’t even touch it) but the liver was cut very thinly but very flavorful and aromatic (and served with quite a lot of garlic). Definitely worth trying if you visit the São Pedro!

For dessert, I went for the “gelado” (EUR 3.50) which is originally four different ice cream flavors but I only wanted vanilla and caramel and I got what I wanted – but paid the full price (which is fine, I’d say but they should say something about it beforehand).

The place itself is generally nice and quite lovely but I think the blue light is not necessarily something which adds that positively to the whole atmosphere. The waiters were very friendly and very helpful at all times! I must say, exquisite service, friendly, jovial, helpful! Even the wine recommendation was okay. To sum it up, the São Pedro is a nice restaurant with caring waiters, good food, fair prices and a blue-light atmosphere. Worth visiting but also important to book a table in advance.
