Amazing view but overpriced: Restaurant QOMO (22. January 2019)

| May 7, 2019 | 0 Comments

The QOMO is located on the top floor of the Rhine tower and is a rotating restaurant. If you book a table in advance, you will have to get your free ticket to get up into the restaurant at the bottom. What was rather funny: I put my umbrella on the floor on the outer ring without realizing that it was a rotating restaurant – and suddenly, my umbrella was gone. Luckily I found it again after walking about along the outer ring!

The service is attentive and friendly and within a few seconds after you’ve taken your seat, the menu is brought to your table. I went for the “tuna tataki (pea puree, peas, green beans, soy dressing)” (EUR 16.00) which was a good start into the evening.

Then I decided to give the “Moriawase Sushi Variation (24 pieces)” (EUR 68.00) a try. There was sashimi which was good …

… and a bunch of sushi which were fine too. I liked the ones with the sprinkles on top (no clue what this was but it was tasty) and the tuna sushi.

The wine selection is at the upper end of acceptable in terms of pricing – there are a few decent wines on the menu but most of it is this overpriced hyped kind of stuff. The “Vecchie Viti – Old Vines – Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG” (EUR 53.00) is not particularly good but decent and fair in price. All in all, the QOMO is an interesting location as the place is rotating, you get – if you stay for a bit – a nice view all over the city of Düsseldorf from all corners – but that’s really it. The rest is fine but a bit overpriced – although the service does an excellent job. Booking recommended.
