When B is suddenly A class: Restaurant B (16. March 2019)

While the name makes you think that the restaurant is maybe not ‘A class’ but ‘B level’, it actually turned out to be very much ‘A class’ – or at least A-. I had booked a table for 8:30pm and showed up a bit early but it wasn’t an issue at all and they were super welcoming and friendly. Shortly after having ordered, I got a little amuse bouche – “beef tatar on a potato chip” which was much better than expected. The seasoning and the meat quality were great so you were absolutely in the mood for the rest to come.

Luckily, I had asked the waiter if one starter would be enough or even too much and he pointed out that usually one is enough. And he was right. I went for the “fresh fish tatar with herbs” (EUR 14.00) which was prepared like a ceviche and was overall very tasty.

What I didn’t like so much was the fact that my main course was served immediately after I was done with my starter. And I really mean immediately. My empty plate was replaced on the spot with my main. I appreciate a certain speed to service and cooking of course but frankly, I think it’s not really how things should be done. I would love to enjoy my meal freshly prepared and from the heat of the vegetables, that wasn’t the case. However, my “fresh grilled salmon teriyaki sauce with black rice and tarama wasabi muslin” (EUR 20.00) was actually very good. Especially the combination of the salmon with the teriyaki sauce was a great combination.

The “assortment of selected Greek and French cheeses” (EUR 14.00) I had for dessert was quite a portion and the cheese assortment was delicious. However, I would have loved to know what I was eating. The plate as served without any explanation whatsoever. Not really how you want your food to be served.

The place is very lovely in terms of the interior design and you feel very comfortable. The sofa seats are a bit low but besides that, it is a truly nice interior. The service is friendly and attentive and the waiter really did a great job making it a great experience. So, all in all, although the name of the restaurant suggests that it is a ‘B class’ experience, it’s actually an ‘A class’ experience. Just, when you are there having dinner alone, make sure to tell them that you do not want to have your main served right after you’re done with your starter. Also – reservation highly recommended.
