Good Chateaubriand with decent service: Restaurant Chesa Rössli @ Mövenpick Hotel Münster (26. March 2019)

Since I had arrived to Münster again, I have tried to give the Chesa Rössli a try – and somehow it was always closed or somehow it didn’t work out. On my last evening in Münster, I managed to do exactly that and gave the Chesa Rössli its well-deserved try. One note upfront – what I was not aware: The restaurant is located in the Mövenpick hotel and you kind of have to search for the entrance.

However, once seated, you’re attended in a very friendly and caring way and soon after you’ve placed your order, some “salmon tatar” is served as an amuse bouche which was good but would probably for most clients contain too much raw onions. I liked it a lot though.

As a starter, I had the “coconut soup with red curry and galangal” (EUR 9.00) which was fine in terms of flavor but there was way too much vegetables in it. I would have expected either less vegetables (it was almost like a stew) and maybe some chicken.

As a main, we decided to go for the “chateaubriand, prepared from Argentinian beef (450gr, served at the table)” (EUR 36.00 per person; portion for three people in the picture).

I had not expected such good meat. The meat was not only incredibly tender and smooth but also rather aromatic and lovely in terms of consistency and flavor. The potato cake which was served with it was very thin layered and, therefore, very enjoyable. The vegetables were nicely firm but there were too many mushrooms for my personal gusto (in comparison with the vegetables).

Last but not least, some chocolates were served to accompany the “double espresso”. All in all, a tasty final course.

The service was close to flawless – at least initially. Throughout the course of the evening, they lost a bit of attention when it came to refilling the wine or water glass. Else, absolutely nothing to complain about. With regards to the atmosphere – the place is nice but the tables are a bit too close to each other leaving – in my opinion – not enough space for a proper private conversation.
