31. December 2010: Cettina Café Luciano

| January 2, 2011 | 2 Comments

Tasty, not chewy calamari in a white wine garlic sauce – it definitely pays off to eat seafood in places close to the sea. The calamari I’ve ordered didn’t look too appealing at first but their consistency was great – not chewy at all but really tender (as far as you can call calamari tender). The garlic white wine sauce was good too but a bit too watery somehow. All in all, the calamari are tasty, the sauce is good, the portion is big enough and it’s pretty cheap too (EUR 5.95).

The local wine “La Torre Merlot” (EUR 6.90 for half a bottle) tasted pretty good too – but once more it was missing in length.

The waitresses are stressed and not really friendly. Although they’re being correct and take your orders and bring what you’ve ordered, they have lacks of friendliness – there is definitely room for improvement. The interior design of the Cettina Café Luciano is okay as it is somehow made oldish but the combination of the pictures hung and the stuff put doesn’t really match. Still, it is somehow okay.

The Cettina Café Luciano is located in a parallel street of the Republic Street (main street of Valletta) and is therefore easily accessible from any point within Valletta on foot.

All in all, the Cettina Café Luciano is okay for having a beer (there is a part where you can sit outside) or a quick break but not much more than that.

This restaurant is definitely not recommendable. I went for lunch this morning with my 5 year old daughter for a plate of pasta ….and i found a piece of metal in my food…they didn’t even apologize..yes they deducted the price from the bill for my plate but i couldn’t let my daughter eat the rest of her plate apart from the fact that it ruined the whole outing for me and my daughter.I nearly broke my tooth.

Went here with my family. Food was superb. Pizza was mouthwatering so was the pasta with vongole. Truly enjoyable dinner with great surroundings, St. John’s Cathedral.
