Mouth-watering experience – a must visit! @ Restaurant The Market Place (6. April 2019)

When researching a bit about possible restaurants to visit, The Market Place kept popping up in a variety of apps, so I decided to give it a try. As it was rather last minute, it wasn’t entirely easy to score a table but I was lucky. Once seated, the “amuse bouche” was served which was a combination of different flavors among which the “beetroot raviolo” which was smooth and overall delicious.

Next in line was the “hemp bread with butter”. While I consider the idea of hemp bread interesting, I must admit that it was not entirely to my taste but the quality of the olive oil was exquisite.

The “grissini” were not only lovely because of their taste but I also like the length of them.

I went for the “three courses menu” (EUR 70.00) where the idea is that you pick any three dishes from the menu. I went for the “scaloppa di foie gras d’anatra, carciofo, mele, café” as a starter which was lovely because the foie gras had a nicely grilled crispy crust which was then accompanied by a coffee sauce. Sounds weird but tastes delicious!

As a second course, I went for the “bottoni, mozzarella, pomodoro, finocchietto, alici” which were amazing. They are so smooth, so rich, and so flavorful, that you want to eat just more of them! With the anchovies on top, they dish becomes even better. Intense flavors. Smooth consistency. Just overall very yummy.

As a main, I had picked the “scamone di agnello, scarola, formaggio di capra, aglio nero” which was absolutely outstanding. One of the better slices of lamb I have had in a while.

Before you are ready to leave the place, they serve a selection of chocolates which are all surprisingly great.

The place itself is modern, spacious, luminous and appealing.

The entrance is a bit tricky to find but once you do, it is more than worth entering!

The service is very attentive and friendly and makes sure your wine (Barbera d’Asti, Pomorosso, Coppo, 2016, Piemonte) (EUR 65.00) or water glass doesn’t empty.

The only part I did not like too much was the fact that you have a fixed slot. And if you slightly over your time, they do not rush you directly or ask you directly to leave but the way the service slightly changes, it becomes abundantly clear that your time is up and you’re supposed to move it. Besides that, you should definitely try ‘The Market Place’. And: Book well in advance!!!
