Great burger concept but mediocre execution: Restaurant Stickerei (24. April 2019)
About two years ago I was in the Stickerei enjoying a great burger – and finally, it was time again to visit the Stickerei. If you go for lunch, you better go early, as you have to wait quite a bit until the burger is served. I went for the “deluxe burger (two hand-made beef patties, au gratin with Appenzell cheese, bacon stripes, onions, salad, and pickles in the home-made tomato basil sauce in home-made buns)” (CHF 29.50). The burger is a great combination of flavors – if the patties were still hot. Unfortunately, the patties were not really warm anymore. What I was also rather surprised about was the fact that they did not ask how you wanted your patties done. I would have preferred medium but it was more well-done. So, the burger combination has all the preconditions to be amazing – but the semi-warm patties ruined it a bit.
The “sweet potato fries” (CHF 8.00) served with ‘cocktail sauce’ and ‘mayonnaise’ were a nice adding to the burger.
What I like about the place is the interior and the atmosphere. The menu is basically at the wall – or you can just tick some boxes on a sheet of paper and ‘custom-order’ your own burger.
All in all, if you like burgers, the Stickerei is a good place to enjoy exactly those. However, you have to make sure you that you are there early if you want a swift lunch.
