7. January 2011: Restaurant La Côte

| January 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

The best Entrecôte in town! The Entrecôte with Café de Paris Sauce and home-made Pommes Allumettes (CHF 42.00) is a sin but it’s a really delicious sin and it’s worth to transgress. The Entrecôte is absolutely tender, great in taste and the Café de Paris Sauce in which the Entrecôte is basically swimming is delicious, buttery but really delicious.

Especially the freshly hand-made Pommes Allumettes together with the Café de Paris sauce taste awesome.

The Entrecôte is a bit expensive for a lunch menu but it’s definitely worth it. The Amuse Bouche served by the kitchen – eggplant with aceto balsamico – is not really tasty. The aceto tastes somewhat like acetyl and therefore, the Amuse Bouche is not really what keeps you there.

The waiter/owner is quick and friendly, but seems a bit stressed out (understandably though, considering how full the restaurant was). It took the kitchen quite long until we got our Entrecôte served which would generally be a major drawback but the taste just makes up for waiting so long.

The interior is nice and somewhat appealing but also dark and heavy. The walls are dark, the paitings hung somewhat weird and the carpet is not really helping either. The style is pretty mixed up. Still, the main reason, you’re going there is the Entrecôte and therefore, ambiente is not really a decision point.

Price-wise, the La Côte belongs to the upper level for lunches. A mineral water accounting for CHF 7.00 and the Entrecôte for CHF 42.00. Still, considering the quality of the meat, it’s worth it.

Close to the Restaurant La Côte there are a few other restaurants like the Restaurant Schmuklerski, or the Restaurant Cafe Boy. Also, the Restaurant is easily reachable by bus (#32, #33, N5; stop “Zwinglihaus”) or tram (#2, #3, N14; stop “Lochergut”).

The Restaurant La Côte is definitely the best place to go for Entrecôte in the city of Zurich – just make sure, you make a reservation in advance because otherwise it will be pretty much impossible to get a table.
