Just lovely – food, service and location: Restaurant Nachbarsgarten (11. June 2019)
I think it’s the second time in my life that I have been to Winterthur and actually ate something here. Through sheer luck and coincidence, I encountered the “Nachbarsgarten” (German for ‘neighbour’s garden’) and had booked a table for 8:30pm. However, due to various reasons I was late and only arrived around 9:30pm. I was rather astonished that the restaurant called me around 8 pm to inform me that the kitchen would close around 9:30pm usually. I finally arrived 9:50pm and they had the kitchen still open and served everything – just for me! That is the kind of service you can never expect but which blows your mind when you actually experience it!
As a starter I went for the “Nachbar’s Mezze” (vegetable tartar, hummus, olives, shrimp croquette, herb cous cous)” (CHF 19.50) which was a lovely assortment of different little nibbles and which were overall quite tasty.
As a main, I had the “tarte flambée with smoked bacon, goat cheese, parsley and honey” (CHF 24.50) which I liked a lot. Obviously, the pieces in the middle were much better than the ones at the edge but overall, the dish was great.
The service was incredibly friendly and helpful at all times! So, all in all, if you want to have dinner somewhere in Winterthur, you should definitely go to the ‘Nachbarsgarten’ – worth visiting!
