Delicious freshly prepared lobster: Lobster Place @ Chelsea Market (17. June 2019)
Once strolling through Chelsea Market and having had these amazing tacos, I was still a bit hungry and found the “Lobster Place”. When you walk in, you see a whole lot of seafood stalls and one of them serves whole lobsters. We decided to have a “small (1.5 pounds) cooked lobster” (31.95 USD) which is served with nothing but butter. Cracking it open without any specific cutlery and nothing but your bare hands is kind of tricky without making an incredible mess, but it’s worth the work (hint: use these rubber gloves, they help to prevent the worst).
The lobster was delicious but – in hindsight – I should have probably taken a larger lobster as there will be more meat to pull out and enjoy.
The place is simple – nothing but a little corner where you walk in, put your order and then some minutes later they yell out your number and you get what you’ve ordered. Eating is basically in the general space behind and you have to find a space where this is possible.
So, when you are in Chelsea Market and you like lobster, the Lobster Place is a good place to visit for some fresh lobster. Don’t bring the fanciest clothes and make sure you use these rubber gloves – then you’re all settled!
