Delicious starters but weak main course: Restaurant Ki (12. July 2019)
The “edamame (green cooked baby soybeans with sea salt)” (EUR 4.00) were good and tasty but lacking a bit of sea salt – and the salt could have been chunkier which would definitely have made it better.
The “avocado tatar with freshly diced tuna” (EUR 7.50) was actually lovely – although, for my personal gusto, there was too much avocado and not enough tuna. Yet, a delicious combination of flavors.
When it came to the main dish, I wasn’t entirely persuaded. The “crispy duck udon noodles (marinated duck and pork knuckle with fried egg sunny side up)” (EUR 14.00) looked super promising but were actually a bit disappointing. Firstly, the broth was somehow bland and didn’t taste like much. Secondly, there weren’t really many noodles which is something I would have expected. At least the meat was there but it was too fatty for my taste. So, all in all, the starters were good but the main wasn’t really what I was looking for.
The place is simple and if you sit outside you are close to the street which is rather busy but given there are some trees between you and the street, it’s fine. The service is friendly and attentive and actually managed to do a good job. The only mistake was that I wasn’t served an “Avocado Lassi” as requested but a “Mango Lassi” (EUR 4.50) but given it was also tasty, there wasn’t any reason to complain.
