Good lunch offering but slow kitchen: Restaurant Zur alten Post (31. July 2019)
I like the Restaurant zur Alten Post because it always offers a nice selection of menus as well as today – I went for the “zucchini foam soup with mandarin oil” (CHF 5.80) which was a bit of a tiny portion but actually quite refreshing and the hint of mandarin oil ensured that there was a certain acidity to the dish.
As a main course, I decided to go for the “mangel ricotta ravioli, green tomato chutney, burrata” (CHF 36.80) which was not only a larger portion than expected but also quite delicious in terms of stuffing of the ravioli and the burrata on top.
What I like a lot about the zur alten Post is the interior as it is entirely held in wood which makes it quite appealing and comfortable. Furthermore, the tables are sufficiently apart so you have enough privacy to talk. What wasn’t so outstanding was the fact that it took them a solid 40 minutes between the starter and the main – and that is definitely too long to create a dish which is strongly pasta related. So, while there is room for improvement with regards to the speed of service (or the kitchen respectively), I can anyways recommend the Zur alten Post as a good place for lunch.
