Quite amazing location but very slow service: Restaurant Ze Fork on the water (11. August 2019)
It is several years ago since I’ve been to Vevey and the Fête des Vignerons was the perfect occasion to do exactly that again. The “Ze Fork on the water” is a famous restaurant in Vevey and it isn’t entirely easy to get a table – and especially not during the Fête des Vignerons – but we somehow managed after we had spent about 50 minutes for a table to get free. That wasn’t that difficult with some wine like the “Clos en Blassinges (Saint-Saphorin Grand Cru AOC, Eric Bovy, Chexbres)” (CHF 55.00).
In order to not only drink, we also went for a selection of nibbles like the “terrine du moment” (CHF 7.00), a “tomme poivre & cognac” (CHF 8.00) and “tapenade d’olive à la grecque” (CHF 6.00) which turned out to be a way bigger portion than originally expected! It took quite a bit to finish it. I loved the terrine and the tomme but the olive tapenade wasn’t entirely to my liking.
Finally, when placed at the table, we were able to order (but had to be patient). It took a bit until the dish was served, but the “Ze truite (salmond trout filet, candied lemon and dried tomato tapenade, artichoke “barigoule” & kritaraki like a risotto)” (CHF 32.00) was actually quite amazing. And the “pasta risotto” was absolutely to my liking!
The ice cream selection I went for was quite large “caramel beurre salé, cassis, vanilla” (CHF 9.00) but tasty and fair in price!
What was perfect was the view we had – during the waiting time as it was comfortable but also once seated at the table as the cortege of the final day of the Fête des Vignerons was walking right in front of us!
I must say, despite its silly name, I quite liked the restaurant, the atmosphere, and the food. Only the service was not very swift – but actually quite friendly. So, if you are in Vevey, book in advance and score a lovely table outside (in summer).
