Decent food but very slow in its production: Restaurant Acquarello (15. August 2019)

If you are in a hurry, I would not recommend to visit the Acquarello. We got in quite late that evening (around 9:30pm) and wanted a quick dinner. I started with a “zuppa di pomodoro bianca e basilico (white tomato soup with fresh basil)” (CHF 11.50) which looked didn’t really look all too appealing as the contrast between the plate and the yellow-ish soup was just somewhat ‘ugly’. In addition, the plate was of a dull black so you could see every fingerprint there was on the plate. And there were quite a few. The soup on the other hand was okay but also nothing spectacular.

The “fegato di vitello alla ‘veneziana’ con risotto (veal liver with onions and sage, balsamico jus, served with white wine risotto)” (CHF 36.50) was quite a portion. And while the liver as well as the risotto were actually both very tasty, the way it was prepared was not appealing to the eye at all.

What surprised me very positively though was the wine cellar. Unfortunately, I was not able to enjoy a glass of wine that night but all in all it looked very promising.

The place itself is okay in terms of atmosphere and in terms of service. But, the service isn’t entirely up to the task, respectively, the kitchen is too slow. You really have to wait too long for all of it to be served. So, definitely not on my “do again” list.
