Strong advertisement which does not fit reality: Restaurant La Scala (25. August 2019)
The Restaurant La Scala is a nice place where you have a partial view onto Lake Zurich. However, it’s ‘sold’ way better online than it actually is. The view isn’t as breath-taking and if you don’t have a front row seat you don’t really stand a chance anyways to see much. However, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is nice. The food is decent – I went for the “pacchero with cream of yellow peppers, anchovies of “Cantabrico”, tomato confit, capers and toasted breadcrumbs” (CHF 27.00) which is really just pasta (which was cooked fine) with some sauce and an anchovy on top. So, the anchovies of Cantabrico was a disappointment. Not sure what I had expected but not just one anchovy. And to pay for pasta and one anchovy CHF 27.00 seems a bit off to me.
And even the prices for the drinks are for some parts at the upper level of acceptable. E.g. the “double espresso” (CHF 6.80) is a bit expensive for what it tastes like. The sparkling water (0,5l) is fine with CHF 6.50 and so is the 1dl of Roero Arneis (CHF 8.50). So, to sum it up, the La Scala is a decent place which as a certain kind of positive atmosphere but if you are not insisting on getting the front row, you will be disappointed.
