Delicious game dishes in a fish restaurant: Restaurant Blume (30. September 2019)

Somehow I haven’t really managed to pay many Goldener Fisch restaurants a visit but given it was the 25th anniversary of the club, I decided to give one of these restaurants a try. It all started with an “amuse bouche” which was some kind of spinach roll which was good to start.

The “chanterelles foam soup with croutons” (CHF 13.00) did not only look lovely due to its flower garnish but it was also rather delicious in terms of taste. The only thing which was a bit annoying was the fact that the chanterelles were apparently not washed so well so you would end up – at times – finding some crunchy things in your mouth which wasn’t entirely pleasant.

Although the Goldener Fisch is actually an award for “fish/ seafood” restaurants, they didn’t have too much fish on the menu that evening but game. So I decided to go for something you usually don’t get too often which was “reindeer filet with a chest nut crust and game jus” (CHF 48.50). It looked like quite a portion and it actually was also rather big but the chest nut crust was easily to be scraped off a bit in order to make sure to not make the nut flavors overwhelming. The reindeer itself was delicious in terms of consistency and flavor.

On a Monday evening, there isn’t too much going on in the Blume (German for “flower”) so we ended up being the only guests. This meant full attention from the service personnel (which also seemed to be the owner of the restaurant) and respective high-quality service. So, all in all, I have no opinion about the Blume and fish/seafood as I didn’t try that but I can absolutely say that the game they prepare is absolutely worth trying.
