Good Asian cuisine worth the wait: Restaurant Co Chin Chin (17. October 2019)

| November 15, 2019 | 0 Comments

It is about two years ago since I’ve last been to the Co Chin Chin but I had positive memories of the place. And the fact that you would not be able to get a table about 3-4 days in advance (as they were already fully booked) kind of backed that impression. However, you always have the chance to wait at the bar until a table becomes available and after having had a tasty drink at the bar, a table for four was available.

I went for a “bitter melon tea” (CHF 6.50) which was interesting and is apparently full of vitamin C and helps you with the flu. Well, a few days later I was cured – not sure if the tea did the trick or just the circumstances ;-)

As a starter, I went for the “summer roll with tofu and vegetables” (CHF 7.00) which was served rather quickly (which is perfect when you’re hungry) and was good in terms of flavor.

The “Mi Xao Gion Hai San (cripsy fried egg noodles with seafood)” (CHF 28.50) was a bit of a disappointment though. When I read fried noodles I thought they had a bit of a crispy texture but they were more like when you burnt spaghetti as a kid and they would just crackle in pieces when you touch them. It was really super damn crispy and didn’t have any noodle-y consistence. The toppings were good and so was the sauce (and there was even some seafood) but the noodles themselves weren’t what I had expected – unfortunately.

The waiters were super friendly and also made sure that we wouldn’t run out of drinks. And, the prices are even fair for the beverages with e.g. CHF 6.50 for a “double espresso” or CHF 5.50 for a 0,5l bottle of “sparking water”. So, all in all, the Co Chin Chin remains a good place, however, I would highly recommend you to not order fried noodles!
