A solid choice as always: Restaurant netts (22. October 2019)
While my very first visit ever to the netts (probably in 2007 or so) was really a disappointment due to the non-satisfactory service, it has become a place I like to frequent when in St. Gallen. I went for the “curry soup with coconut foam” (CHF 14.00) as a starter and it was perfectly balanced off between the intensity of the curry and the sweetness of the coconut.
The “saddle of venison with potato dumplings, red cabbage, chestnut and cranberry jus” (CHF 45.00) was the dish of the day and I must say that it was absolutely exquisite! The venison was tender and rich in terms of flavor. What wasn’t entirely to my liking was the amount of spaetzle they would serve. I mean, look at the picture, there barely aren’t any. In hindsight I should have asked for more.
The netts is usually booked out and besides that, there were barely any available tables that evening so we ended up on one of these high tables (which aren’t really to my liking) and that although we had booked a table in advance. However, the netts remains a safe bet which is definitely worth visiting when you’re in St. Gallen.
