Good First class service with a local touch: SWISS First LX146 ZRH – DEL (1. November 2019)

When traveling in SWISS First you are ensured to have a good wine selection. I started my flight with a “Riesling Grosses Gewächs, Kiedrich Gräfenberg, 2017” by Robert Weil from Rheingau which was a perfect start into the flight.

Once you were seated, you were served a “parsley créme fraîche with bread sticks” which was refreshing and good to get your palate started (if you haven’t eaten already too much in the lounge before).

The selection as starters, I went for “filet of Balik salmon, lobster with me and crème fraîche, saffron gelée and fennel, and truffle mousse with egg, leek salad and Belper Knolle cheese” was absolutely good. Somehow, it does not match the Lufthansa First Class starters in my personal opinion but it was definitely good. And the Balik salmon is always a safe bet.

Given I was flying to New Delhi, I decided to have the Indian main dish, the “Paneer Achari, Bhindi massala and pulao (Indian cheese curry, okra and rice)” accompanied by a glass of “Concerto, 2015, Castello di Fonterutoli, Tuscany, Sangiovese & Cabernet Sauvignon”. I liked the Indian dish. Not really sure what exactly it was but all in all it was tasty. Only the very small amount of naan bread (which was served in the tin foil) was a bit disappointing in terms of amount. The wine was incredible though!

What I liked a lot about the flight was the friendliness and care of the staff – they were always there when you needed something and made sure that your food would be served within no time.

So, when you have the chance to fly First with SWISS, make sure to enjoy your journey. I personally believe the wine selection on board is better than in the lounge (at least that was my impression from what I was offered) but the dishes on ground are definitely better than what you get up in the air (although it is quite tasty anyways).
