A great alternative to non-hotel restaurants: Restaurant Olivé @ Radisson Blu St. Gallen (25. November 2019)

| December 20, 2019 | 0 Comments

Although I stay at the Radisson Blu in St. Gallen from time to time, I do not eat hear often. But I thought I give it a try again as the food is actually surprisingly good – especially for a regular hotel restaurant! Once we were seated, we were attended rather swiftly and right after we’ve placed our orders, we were surprised with an amuse bouche, a “curry chicken wrapped in carrots, served on a basil spinach mousse and a beetroot chip” which was just one bite (maybe two with the beetroot chip) but it was a flavorful combination of different flavors and consistencies.

For the starter, I went for the “mozzarella, pomodoro (tomato dices, mozzarella di bufala, basil sorbet)” (CHF 18.00) which was a surprise to me as I had somehow over-read the “sorbet” part. So, it is like a proper insalata caprese but interpreted modernly and absolutely enjoyable! The portion is rather huge though, so you might consider to not take a main or not take a starter if you’re not that hungry.

Given I was rather hungry, I went for the “gnocchi al gorgonzola (home-made gnocchi, gorgonzola sauce, rocket salad)” (CHF 26.00) which were not only great but actually delicious. The only thing which bothered me a bit – the size of the portion!

The interior of the Restaurant Olivé is nice and you feel comfortable. What is even better is the service! The waitress who attended us did a marvelous job! So, if you are looking for an alternative from the “non-hotel restaurants”, the Olivé is definitely a hotel restaurant in St. Gallen you should try!
