Great vegetarian main but not the best restaurant of Zurich: Restaurant Weisses Rössli (10. December 2019)
According to TripAdvisor, the Restaurant Weisses Rössli is the best restaurant in Zurich. Now, frankly, I believe that is fake news. I mean, the place is actually nice and the lunch offering is good too but number 1? Come on! That has to be bought or something! I went for the soup of the day which was a “celery pineapple lemongrass soup” which was absolutely fine – and rather smooth in terms of flavor.
As a main, I decided to have the “Hokaido pumpkin, parsnip, eggplant cream, salsa verde” (CHF 34.00) which I was a bit skeptical about as it was a purely vegetarian dish. But, the chef proved me wrong – it was actually absolutely delicious! I can highly recommend this course – even though there is no meat!
The place is like the inside of an old farmer’s house – just refurbished and modernized but the furniture is simple and comfortable. The service is friendly, attentive, and relatively swift. So, all in all, I can recommend the Weisses Rössli for lunch – good offering, fair prices, nice location, good service. Still, No. 1 of Zurich seems like an exaggeration!
