The Swiss version of a tapas concept: Restaurant Genuss Manufaktur Neubad (19. December 2019)

So far I have only visited the Genuss Manufaktur Neubad for lunch and finally it was time to pay the place a visit for dinner. The concept is quite lovely overall as you basically have the idea of ordering a couple of small dishes and then share them. Which – obviously – doesn’t work for all the dishes. As a starter I decided to go for the “Thai lime coconut soup, pak choi, pork belly” (CHF 14.00) which was served almost immediately (which I appreciate on the one hand side given I was hungry but also do not like that much given it means that things were juts laying there pre set). However, the soup was actually overall good – the pork belly on the other hand was not really necessary.

As a first course to share, I went for the “Brie de Meaux risotto, Jerusalem artichoke, kale” (CHF 18.00) which was frankly speaking quite delicious. The risotto was smooth and still had a bit of a bite to it making it quite enjoyable.

The second course were the “fried prawns, Thai eggplant, baby corn, okra, Indian curry” (CHF 22.00) which was overall good. I liked the sauce and the flavor of the dish but I was not such a fan of the prawns. However, all in all, it made for a good dish.

The next course was the “veal chorizo tatar, parsley, parsley root, potato, port jus” (CHF 23.00) which did not only look delicious but it was also absolutely great in terms of flavor and texture. The combination of the rather bland veal with the spicy chorizo and ultimately the very intense and delicious sauce made in combination for an excellent dish.

The place is rather small on the ground floor so whenever you have the chance to actually get a table on the first floor, you should make sure that’s possible. Other than that, the place is lovely. The fact that it is all relatively small areas makes it a bit trickier for the staff to serve, respectively to be as attentive as they should be and making sure your things are delivered in time. To sum it up, the Genuss Manufaktur Neubad remains a great place to eat – be it for lunch or for dinner.
