Outstanding flavor combinations – worth trying: Restaurant KGB (23. December 2019)
A restaurant called KGB kind of rises suspicion but it turns out the KGB is actually a restaurant recommended by the Guide Michelin for its innovative cuisine. Given I passed the restaurant on the touristic walking path, I decided to give it a try and I was blown away. I decided to try a couple of things like the “pollo salteado al “Cocktail Margarita” (pollo salteado con ajo y cilantro, cubierto con una tersa crema agridulce de “Margarita” (Tequila, Cointreau y lima)” (EUR 5.90) which looked simple but was absolutely delicious as the chicken was nicely juicy and the whipped cream had a lovely flavor of margarita. Amazing combination!
The “Patatas Bravas “Divorciadas” (patatas crujientes cubiertas de nuestra clásica salsa roja y de nuestra nueva salsa verde)” (EUR 5.50) were as good. The potatoes themselves were basically just fried potatoes but the sauces with which they were served were great.
The “croquetas de la Pringá del Puchero” (6 unidades, EUR 6.80) were comparatively boring as they were regular croquetas – good but nothing surprising here.
The “Pincho Wendy (chapata de gambones a la plancha gratinados con alioli verde de hierbas frescas e hilos de chile)” (EUR 6.80) on the other hand was great again – an interesting combination of flavors and textures which were really enjoyable.
The place itself is rather small so you will definitely have to ‘fight’ a bit to find a space. And then you have to order your food at the bar and they just jell your name once one of the dishes is ready and you basically walk to the bar to get your food. However “messy” the concept is, the food is definitely worth visiting this place! Lovely delicious food in a comfortable setting.
