Traditional local lunch offering in a nice setting: Restaurant La Taberna del Sacristán (25. December 2019)

Finding a restaurant which is open on the 25th of December in Frigiliana turned out to be more difficult than expected! Finally, after wandering the whole lovely (but tiny) town, finally, a place was found called La Taberna del Sacristán, so basically, the priest’s restaurant which makes sense as the restaurant is located on the place right in front of the church.

The tables are simple, the surroundings are nice and the staff is friendly. I went for the “gazpacho andaluz con guarnición” (EUR 4.50) which was a ‘mix it yourself gazpacho’ which I haven’t had this way (although I was told that’s the way you do it in Spain) and it was delicious!

Te “tarta de cebolla con virutas de jamón” (EUR 10.00) was a simple course but something I definitely liked. It was just a really good tarte.

Finally, the “espárragos verdes frescos a la parrilla con aceite” (EUR 10.00) were the low light of the lunch. Not that they were bad but frankly, they were just not living up to the expectations (i.e. the other courses).

All in all, even if it is just to enjoy a “water (0.5l)” (EUR 2.00) and a “coffee” (EUR 1.65), the La Taberna del Sacristán is a good place to sit down and relax after walking the mountainy stairs of Frigiliana which is, by the way, a little town absolutely worth seeing (reminded me of these little Greek island towns).
