Incredibly swift lunch – and even enjoyable: Restaurant Gentile (9. January 2020)
It is a bit ago since I’ve last been to the Gentile and it turned out that it has improved on its lunch service capabilities. I went for the “small menu salad” which was good, however, they are not really aware of the concept of “mouth sized pieces”. Frankly, some of the leaves were about as big as my hand – not really what I call good in terms of size.
The “curd gnocchi served on a tomato pepperoncini sauce with fresh basil and Parmesan shavings” (CHF 20.00) were okay. Honestly, for me, they were a bit too raw. I mean, they were cooked fine, just they could have put them in a pan with some butter to improve the taste. And some salt wouldn’t have been bad either.
However, the waiter was super friendly and also incredibly swift. Just as it should be – especially during a lunch! Within only 40 minutes we had been seated, ordered, eaten both starter and main, and paid the bill and left! Almost too quickly, but, better like that than waiting for hours and hours!
