Perfect Italian experience with a very local twist: Restaurant Baratella (20. January 2020)
The Baratella is always good for a solid Italian dinner – I went for the “insalata con fegato” (CHF 18.80) as a starter which was a decent portion in terms of size and the quality of the fegato was actually good so it was a rather pleasant starter.
As a main I went for the “ossobuco alla veneziana, 280gr” (CHF 32.00) served with “risotto alla milanese con funghi” (CHF 10.50). The ossobuco was tender and rich in flavor and definitely very enjoyable. The risotto alla milanese was as good but I must say – just in terms of personal gusto – I’d order it without mushrooms next time. The good thing though, as it was good and I was still hungry, is that they serve the risotto à discretion (unfortunately not the ossobuco).
The place is relatively simple in terms of interior decoration but still nice as you feel comfortable and there is enough space between the tables so you have enough privacy. The waitress is super friendly and alos jovial but was – at least in the beginning – a bit too slow as it took quite a bit until the Bricco dell’Uccellone and the water were served! In any case, the Baratella is good for lunch and dinner and can definitely be recommended. Make sure to book a table in advance though!
