Hearty and heavy Swiss food: Restaurant Lokal (30. January 2020)

| March 4, 2020 | 0 Comments

The last time I visited the Lokal in the Lokremise was about 2.5 years ago and for lunch, the offering isn’t that great and as far as I remember the food wasn’t excellent either. Now, that is pretty much the same still. I went for the “Tom Yam Gung (mushrooms, prawns, spring onions, Thai chili)” (CHF 13.80) as a starter which was nicely spicy and generous in terms of prawns – a solid starter. But just that.

As a main, I went for the “Conductor (veal cordon bleu, Andeerer Traum (a cheese), French fries)” (CHF 41.80) which was a bit disappointing in terms of size when it was served as everyone else at the table who got the same dish got a larger piece of meat. So I was kind of jealous. Turns out, it was actually large enough and totally satisfying in terms of size. When it comes to the quality of the meat, my review is mixed. One side was delicious – the other was rather chewy. So, frankly, not the best cordon bleu I’ve had lately.

The place is huge with very high ceilings which makes it nice (it’s ultimately also an event space) but it also makes it a bit impersonal and for the actual size of the place, you still feel like there is privacy missing as the tables are quite close to each other. All in all, solid, but just that.
