An amazing place for great meat: Restaurant Hawksmoor Spitalfields (1. February 2020)

| March 5, 2020 | 0 Comments

There is one thing I really dislike about London – the fact that you have to book almost every restaurant ages in advance. Luckily, I was able to find something which was appealing and had availability this time on the first try. The Hawksmoor Spitalfields is a very traditional location which serves great different meat dishes like the “Old Spot Belly Ribs” (GBP 12.00) which were absolutely mouth-watering as the meat would just peel off the bone by almost only looking at it. Amazing!

As a main, I went for the “beef fillet (300gr)” (GBP 36.00) served with “creamed spinach” (GBP 6.00), “triple cooked chips” (GBP 5.00) and “anchovy Hollandaise” (GBP 3.25). Now, if you look at it, it doesn’t look like a proper portion but turns out it actually was. I was so full after all of this and didn’t even finish my fries. The meat was good and cooked a bit more than medium (I had ordered it to be prepared medium) which was a pity but at least it had good and nice grill flavors making it a very enjoyable piece of meat. The sauce was delicious, the fries were lovely, and last but not least, the creamed spinach was not only smooth but actually quite delicious.

To accompany the dish, I went for “Rosso Braida (0.175L)” (GBP 12.00) which was a decent wine but nothing extraordinary really.

The place is lovely, traditional, and just somehow overall appealing. The service is a bit confusing (as basically every course and dish was served by another waitress) but they seem to work quite well together as everything worked and besides the double espresso (GBP 3.85) nothing had to be ordered twice and I never had to wait for long.
