Great Robespierre as a signature dish @ Restaurant Bederhof (13. February 2020)
I was not aware that the Bederhof has a signature dish but apparently, there is one which I was happy to discover. But first, let’s get started with the starter. The “lamb’s lettuce with egg and bacon” (CHF 14.50) was a good portion and also great in terms of taste. However, the bacon stripes were a bit surprising (very good ones though as they weren’t all too fatty as you would normally expect them to be) as like that they would not ‘spread’ so well with the rest of the salad.
Their signature dish, I was told, is the “beef Robespierre with Pommes Allumettes (2 Services)” (CHF 49.50) and I must say that the meat was absolutely delicious and very enjoyable. Thin cut, good seasoning, and just the fact that it’s served sizzling hot and you would just somehow get to eat it ‘freshly’ made it great. The fact that you get two rounds of it is (and also of Pommes Allumettes) is a guarantor for satisfaction.
The place is nice as it has something ancient in terms of its interior design and you get like little wooden boxes to sit in (almost like in the wine tent at Oktoberfest) which provides you with some privacy which I appreciate. The waiter was very friendly and professional at the same time. I can definitely recommend the restaurant Bederhof – booking in advance recommended as the place was super crowded!
