Great Austrian cuisine with excellent service: Restaurant Buxbaum (17. February 2020)
The Buxbaum is located in the patio of a larger building and is, therefore, not entirely easy to find. But once you’ve found the entrance, you are entering into a lovely restaurant which is very atmospheric in terms of interior design and in terms of decoration. The service is very friendly and helpful and makes sure you have everything you ask for within a few seconds.
Once the order is placed, you get some bread with great oil and salt to dip it in. Secondly, a little amuse bouche from the kitchen is served which is delicious in terms of flavor.
The “burned corn soup (buckwheat, quail egg yolk, sour cream)” (EUR 12.00) had an intense corn flavor but was interesting due to the combination of textures and flavors present in the dish.
The “Dry Aged Flank Steak (sweet potato mash, wild broccoli, cranberries)” (EUR 35.00) was incredible. I love flank steak. The texture of the meat is definitely one of my favorite things, especially combined with the flavor profile of the flank steak. The wild broccoli which was served with it was just mouth-watering so all in all, it was more than a good dish.
All in all, I can absolutely recommend the Restaurant Buxbaum as the place is lovely, the service is friendly and professional, and the dishes are tasty – and all of it for a very fair price. Given the place is relatively big, there is no need to book a table in advance (at least for a Monday night).
