The perfect place for large tapas: Restaurant La Bodeguilla (25. February 2020)

La Bodeguilla is yet another recommendation by the Guide Michelin app 2020 and I must say, a good one. The restaurant is basically offering a selection of tapas. One thing in advance – please keep in mind, that “small portions” in Spain are much much larger than in Northern European countries. I went for the “cecina artesana con alcachofas a la brasa y parmesano” (EUR 14.50) which was a plate you can feed a family with. Definitely tasty but heavier on the meat side than on the artichokes or Parmensan side.

The “Las Bravas de La Bodeguilla” (EUR 9.50) is basically their interpretation of “patatas bravas” and I like the fact that they serve you whole potato slices which you then have to cut to make sure you get something which fits your mouth. The sauce is light and fits well with the potatoes.

The “calamares fritos con alioli de Tap de Cortí” (EUR 14.50) were okay but frankly, the calamari were a bit too chewy for my gusto. The alioli sauce wasn’t very much what typical alioli tastes like but I suppose that’s just the “tap de Cortí” way of alioli.

The “mollejas corazón, cogollos de Tudela, berenjena miso y shitake” (EUR 14.50) were not really my thing. Besides the fact that I was stuffed already, I did not like the burned salad leaves as they really messed up the taste of the meat and the shitake mushrooms.

What I liked a lot though was the fact that they label your wine. I had a “Gratallops 2015, D.O. Priorato” (0.15dl, EUR 13.50) and you were able to find all the information on your glass holder which is quite cool if you want to potentially buy the wine later.

The place itself is super nice in terms of interior design and decoration and you immediately feel comfortable. The staff is very friendly and supportive and makes sure you feel welcome.

All in all, I can highly recommend the La Bodeguilla for a few small snacks for dinner – lovely place, good food, fair prices, and friendly staff.
