A truly unique Italian dining experience in a family-run restaurant: Restaurant L’Altro (10. June 2020)

| June 17, 2020 | 0 Comments

The L’Altro is just something else – a restaurant which offers simple yet delicious Italian dishes in a lovely atmosphere and with very professional and friendly staff. Once we had ordered our dishes, we got a little trait from the kitchen, “pappa al pomodoro with bread croutons and Parmesan foam” which was intense in flavor and lovely to get started as it really gets your palate going. Luckily, they did not serve any bread so the ‘need to stuff your stomach’ after you’ve had something tasty in your mouth was limited.

The “0ctopus salad tepid on Julienne vegetables” (CHF 28.50) was much better than I had expected as the octopus was not chewy at all and the Julienne vegetables really added a little bit of something to the dish. Quite unexpectedly, to be honest, but it really turned out to be delicious.

As a main, I went for the “veal escalopes with lemon sauce” (CHF 46.00) which was a large piece of meat but was incredibly delicious with the dried sage leaves on top. The meat was juicy yet cooked perfectly so every bite was just pure pleasure!

The “tagliarini al tartufo” (CHF 36.00) which I had as a side dish were great but a bit too expensive for my personal gusto! But, I do admit, they were great, and I even got a refill, so I am not complaining about it.

The place is traditional, lovely, just like a traditional Italian restaurant should be. The ‘dividers’ between tables, where they are needed, are large wine bottles. Talking about wine, the “Bricco dell’Uccellone, 2016” is available for CHF 115.00 per bottle and definitely enjoyable. To sum it up, the L’Altro is definitely something different – and in a very pleasant way. A place you should visit when in Zurich to enjoy Italian food!
