Lovely view onto Lake Zurich with good dishes – but a slow kitchen: Restaurant Fischer’s Fritz (12. June 2020)
The Fischer’s Fritz is famous for its “fish crisps with home-made tartare sauce” (CHF 35.50). The catch of the day was perch. The crisps are actually amazing as there is a lot of fish and not much batter making it a proper meal. However, there isn’t much tartare sauce which made me order some more about 5 minutes into the dish. And it took them a solid 20 minutes to bring more. I mean, okay, I suppose it’s goddamn complicated to create some more tartare sauce – even assuming this was true, how the hell can it take you 15 minutes to prepare the full dish but 20 to bring more sauce! Frankly, a goddamn no go!
The “truffle French fries – CERVO style” (CHF 11.50) were plenty and absolutely tasty. So, no complaint with regards to that.
The atmosphere at Fischer’s Fritz is the one thing which is truly outstanding as when you get to enjoy a glass of “Heida Visperterminen, Kellerei St. Jodern, Wallis (2019)” CHF 9.50) all worries and sorrows just go up into thin air. Plus, they have a decent selection of wines – the rosé “Fischer’s Fritz, Federweiss, Turmgut Erlenbach, Zürich (2019)” (1.5L, CHF 119.00) does the trick to bring you through lunch!
As much as I liked the atmosphere and as good as the food is, I really do not appreciate the speed of the service. Even the double espresso took more than 20 minutes between placing the order and it finally arriving. Honestly, just a no go. Even though the waitress was super friendly and also attentive in taking up the order, the waiting time is just beyond anything acceptable. So, just make sure to add pressure with every order so you might eventually end up getting what you asked for!
