Decent Coronavirus version of a W breakfast: Restaurant Mr. Porter @ W Amsterdam (4. July 2020)

| July 8, 2020 | 0 Comments

The breakfast options at the W Amsterdam are currently not really outstanding as due to the coronavirus, the breakfast buffet option is still not up and running but at least they are generous when you select the Marriott Bonvoy Titanium offer of a free breakfast and you get to order pretty much what you want (be it at the restaurant or for the room service). The standard selection consists of “Mr Porter Breakfast (1 bowl of fruit salad, 1 portion of bread selection accompanied with butter, gouda cheese, farmer’s ham, nutella and jam, chopped salad and lentil salad, unlimited tea & coffee, juice of your choice, prosecco & yoghurt on request)” which is a decent selection of different breads, ham and cheese, fruits. To be honest, I think they could offer a bit more cheese and ham but else, it is actually quite enjoyable.

The “poached eggs and avocado on grilled sourdough toast (lemon, olive oil, chilli)” were absolutely good! The only thing which was a bit annoying was the fact that it took them a solid 30 minutes to prepare them. And I get it, you need to cut the avocado, to toast the bread, to poach the eggs – but 30 minutes? Come on! I mean, there weren’t that many people so you would actually need that much time. In any case, worth the wait as the food is delicious.

All in all, the Mr. Porter looks definitely better for dinner as a steakhouse, however, for breakfast, it is quite lovely overall too. If you get to enjoy the breakfast properly and you might be ending up having nice weather, you also get to have a look over the city whic his quite lovely.
