Good Italian food with decent service: Restaurant Latino (6. July 2020)

| July 12, 2020 | 0 Comments

It is about three years ago since I’ve last been to the Restaurant Latino and I must say that it remains a nice place – you have to make sure to book in advance though as else you won’t stand a chance to find a table as it was rather busy. Especially for a Monday evening. It is possible to get a ‘primo piatto’ as a starter, so I went for the “veal ravioli” (CHF 26.00) which were absolutely delicious and even large enough a portion for a starter (although you would not expect so initially).

As a main, I went for something truly healthy. At least, it looked truly healthy, as the beef was hidden below the rocket salad. The “tagliata di manzo con rucola” (CHF 44.80) was indeed healthy and the beef which was hidden below was actually not only juicy and full of flavour but also perfectly cooked medium rare just as you would want the meat to be.

The “grilled vegetables” (CHF 6.80) which I had as a side dish were good too and even plenty which was surprising.

The “ice cream selection (blood orange, sour cream, vanilla)” (CHF 4.50 per scoop) was fine – nothing spectacular in terms of taste but it did the trick and was actually quite enjoyable overall.

After some initial time where they were not that attentive when it came to taking up the order, they actually improved a lot and made sure you would have everything you needed and wanted. They also ensured that you would actually never have an empty glass of wine (the “Aalto, 2017” (CHF 95.00) was our choice) and keep refilling. So, the service – after that initial insatisfactory moment – was actually great and attentive. The atmosphere is okay, nothing great, but pleasant. So, all in all, the Restaurant Latino remains a good place where you can get good food for a fair price in a nice atmosphere with decent service.
