A surprisingly good lunch offering where you’d not expect it: Restaurant Vecchia Posta (8. July 2020)
The Vecchia Posta is a little restaurant located close to the main station but actually hidden quite well. Although I spent a couple of years in St. Gallen during my studies and again more than a year for work, I never read or heard or saw the Vecchia Posta. Therefore, I was quite surüprised to discover that the Vecchia Posta is actually quite a nice restaurant when it comes to lunch offering. Part of the lunch offer is a salad which is served with toasted bruschetta and some bread.
And for lunch, you have the possibility to order any pizza from the menu, even if it is usually more expensive for only CHF 17.50 (which includes the salad above). I went for their signature pizza, “Vecchia Posta (with ham, rocket salad and Parmesan)” which usually accounts for CHF 23.00. The pizza was not only brought quickly, it was also rather delicious.
The service is friendly and attentive, making sure you have everything you need within a few minutes. So, all in all, the Restaurant Vecchia Posta is a nice place for a quick and cheap lunch – and if you’re lucky enough, you can even sit outside in the little patio which is – overall – enjoyable.
