Great Italian dishes despite the touristic area: Restaurant Vetusta Insigna (9. July 2020)

| July 19, 2020 | 0 Comments

Finding a decent restaurant in a touristy place like Navigli is not really easy – however, somehow I managed to find exactly that. The Vetusta Insigna has small tables right next to the canal and if you’re lucky enough, you get a table there which is, admittedly, very tiny in terms of space but it is lovely in terms of atmosphere. I went for a “mozzarella di bufala campana, pomodoro cuore di bue, piatto misto” (EUR 14.00) as a starter and it was delicious. The mozzarella tasted like mozzarella should taste – and the meat was not only good in terms of taste but also plenty!

The “risotto alla milanese” (EUR 12.00) will always remain a favourite of mine when in Milan – it’s such a typical dish and a very delicious one too! You should try it!

Finally, the “tagliatelle al ragu bolognese” (EUR 10.00) are about as typical (although probably more typical for Bologna) and they were great. The Italians are really excelling at cooking pasta al dente.

The waiter was friendly and helpful and made sure everything needed was there at all times. Friendly, swift, attentive, just like service should be. To be fair, it was rather late and it was rather empty but still, he really did everything to create a nice and comfortable atmopshere!
