Tapas and paella – typical Spanish dishes: Restaurant La Taperia @ El Nacional (17. July 2020)
The El Nacional is located a bit off the main street and is not entirely easy to find – but it is worth ‘the search’ as the El Nacional offers a variety of different restaurants and bars in the same place which makes it quite nice and convenient. The La Taperia offers a wide variety of different tapas and typical Spanish dishes. As a starter, I went for “Pimiento del Padron” (EUR 6.00) which is always a safe and good bet. And they were great as they weren’t really burned (which you so often get).
The “gambas al ajillo” (EUR 8.50) werre good as they weren’t overcooked and had an intense but not overwhelming taste of garlic.
The main course I picked was “paella de marisco” (EUR 35.00) which was quite a portion but it was definitely not a portion for five people (as the menu said). Still, the rice was good and the seafood was delicious. So, definitely something I can recommend when you’re eating at the La Taperia in the El Nacional.
The place is simple yet nice and the service is friendly and relatively swift. I would definitely recommend you to book a table in advance – during Corona times it might be possible to get something easily but once things are returning back to normal it definitely looks like it will be very crowded again.
