9. March 2011: Restaurant Baumgarten
The pork steak with garlic butter, french fries and vegetables (CHF 25.50) is pretty okay. The meat is good but nothing special, the garlic butter is not a freshly made one, the French fries are crispy and not greasy and the vegetables are okay too. Overall, a pretty regular but eatable menu for an okay price. The menu comes with a bouillon soup as a starter – also okay but nothing special.
The waitress is friendly and helpful and manages to bring everything to the correct place at the table with 8 people at the table (not really something you can be used to anymore it seems sometimes). Furthermore, the chef comes out after the dishes are served and asks if everything is okay.
Last but not least, the atmosphere is okay – it’s pretty much a regular old Swiss restaurant. Nothing fancy, but clean and okay – not really appealing though
If you’re hungry and just happen to pass by, the Restaurant Baumgarten is okay to make a quick stop and have a dish. It’s not worth going the extra kilometer to Alpnach Dorf in order to try it out.
