Great Bib Gourmand recommendation by the Guide Michelin: Restaurant Les Petits Plats (21. June 2020)
When my favourite app, “Where Chefs Eat”, isn’t available, the Guide Michelin app is definitely a very reliable option too. Given I was hungry and there wasn’t much around, I decided to ask the app where I could find something tasty. The “Les Petits Plats” is probably not a place I would have walked into if it wasn’t for the description in the app but given it was positioned as good typical French food, I decided to give it a try. There is nothing like “bread and tapenade” for lunch to start – combined with a good glass of wine (Verre Crozes, EUR 7.00).
As a starter, I went for “Velouté – cold beetroot soup with goat cheese” (EUR 12.00) which was surprisingly refreshing and also plenty in terms of amount. Frankly, the combination of cold beetroot with the crumbly goat cheese was truly pleasant.
As a main, I went for the “Châteaubriand” (CHF 33.00) which was cooked perfectly medium-rare as requested. The sauce which was served with the meat wasn’t anything special but still, it made, all in all, for a good combination of flavours and the meat was tender as it should be.
The sides to the meat were okay – the “salad” had a strong mustard-flavoured dressing which was lovely. The potatoes were a bit too stroppy for my personal gusto but still enjoyable.
The place itself was nice – simple, yet appealing. The tables are tiny so if you want to make sure that you’re having space, I’d highly recommend you to book way in advance as else you won’t stand a chance to get one. I got the last table and it was right next to the entrance.
What I liked a lot about the Les Petits Plats was the way they presented the menu – there is no paper or digital menu but an old-fashioned hand-written menu where everything you need is right on there. The waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful and made sure I had everything I needed.
All in all, the Restaurant “Les Petits Plats” is definitely a place I can recommend for a quick lunch – simple, nice, traditional and offering good French food in a nice atmosphere. As mentioned, booking in advance is highly recommended as else you won’t have a chance to find something last minute.
