An amazingly personal and caring dining experience: Restaurant La Petite Rose des Sables (28. June 2020)
The Restaurant La Petite Rose des Sables is a rare find and a place you’d probably not walk into if you did not specifically know it exists. It is a tiny little restaurant run by an elderly lady for more than 30 years now and it is truly unique as she is incredibly friendly, caring, and dedicated to provide you with a unique experience. At first, you get a selection of small snacks which are good to nibble on while you study the menu.
Secondly, still while you haven’t placed your order, you get some cheese and cherry tomatoes to eat. Now, the cheese is relatively simple (I think it was Emmenthal) but again, quite okay to nibble.
I went for the “Boeuf Bourguignon with rice” (EUR 14.80) as a main course and I must say, the beef was actually delicious. And the care with which she prepares everything is just unique. I mean, it’s not only that you get great and flavourful beef but you also have the right amount of vegetables, a generous avocado and the rice …
… in combination with this very delicious sauce for the rice was just extravagant. I mean, I would never have thought I’d ever say that about simple white rice with some sauce but damn!
When it was time for dessert, one ordered a “crème brûlée” and it comes with a variety of cookies and other nibbles so you would definitely have more than enough. And the crème brûlée was delicious too!
The place is tiny but lovely! I mean, you really get everything you want. She is incredibly friendly, caring, and attentive. Besides the quality of the food and the incredibly low price for what you get, she really makes the difference.
As there are maybe 4 to 6 tables only in total, I would highly recommend you to book your table in advance as else it might be difficult to score a table. Frankly, for me, that is an absolute gem and I hope she’ll be open for many more years!
