Absolutely amazing breakfast location – a bit below my expectations: Hôtel des Berges (23. August 2020)
I had high expectations for the breakfast at the Hôtel des Berges as it was supposed to be quite unique and I must say that my expectations were not entirely met. Of course, the place itself is nice but when you’re seated there at the little terrace and not in the middle of the garden, it’s just not the same. In general, though, the breakfast (EUR 29.00) did include a lot of nice elements like freshly pressed orange juice and a fruit salad …
… a selection of jams and honey…
… a little bundt cake and a crème brûlée which was not only surprising for a breakfast but also absolutely tasty.
The selection of cold cuts was good and quite a large one.
The cheese selection, on the other hand, was a complete disappointment. It was some kind of special local cheese which I appreciate but when I saw what kind of cheeses the other tables had received, then I was rather disappointed by these rather boring tasting slices of cheese.
Admittedly though, when you have the view onto the river, it makes you enjoy the view …
… and the selection of different kinds of bread was absolutely satisfying.
I mean, come on, you can’t say anything about the atmosphere. And not much about the service either – they are super friendly and attentive and make sure you have everything you need within minutes. After one of us got stung by a wasp and had an allergic reaction, they did everything to make sure the allergic reaction was taken care of.
All in all, breakfast at the Hôtel des Berges is something I can recommend to you. However, if you pay EUR 480.00 for a Junior Suite already, it feels kind of like a rip-off that they charge you with another 29.00 EUR for breakfast. And, the breakfast is good, and definitely worth 29.00 EUR, however, I had somehow higher expectations. If you don’t have any – it’s perfect!
