Try the Sacher Torte – an absolute must when you visit Vienna: Restaurant Sacher Eck (30. August 2020)

| September 10, 2020 | 0 Comments

The good thing about Covid-19 is that there aren’t as many tourists as in regular times so you actually don’t queue for long to get into the Sacher Eck. Once inside, it was time for a typical Austrian lunch, so I went for the “original Viennese veal schnitzel with parsley potatoes” (EUR 25.00) which was good but not outstanding. The schnitzel was nicely thin but there were two pieces of meat instead of one giant one which I would have preferred.

The “leaf salad” which accompanied the dish was rather uneventful in terms of flavor.

However, when you are here, you absolutely must try the “Original Sacher Torte” (EUR 7.90). That’s ultimately what the place is famous for, so, in combination with a coffee, one of the many which you can get here, this is absolutely perfect and a good reflection of the perfect Viennese dessert experience.

The place is lovely and very traditional but because it is so full and there are so many people at all times of the day …

… the service isn’t entirely up to the task and you have to be quiet patient for them to bring you the menu, to take up the order, to bring the bill, and to also serve your food. I get it, but at least initially getting the menu and maybe something to drink would be nice if it didn’t take ages.

However, all in all, the Sacher Eck is famous for its Sacher Torte and it’s really something you must try! There is no way around it, as it is delicious. And the regular dishes are quite enjoyable as well. So, off you go to get your sugar rush right there!
