Lovely game experience in Zurich: Restaurant Brasserie Freilager (21. November 2020)
Somehow, the Restaurant Freilager remains a safe bet. The place is lovely (and was fully booked that evening) the food offer is always quite exquisite. The “boar tortellini (chestnuts, rosemary butter, Parmesan)” (CHF 22.00) were quite great as a starter. The boar is aromatic and this makes the whole experience mouth-watering.
The “vension with red cabbage, Brussels sprouts, chestnuts and spaetzle” (CHF 37.00) was good too. Now, here, personally, I somehow had the feeling that the whole dish was somewhat too ‘dense’. Not really the right expression but it felt like all the ingredients were somewhat heavy. Tasty in terms of flavor and good in terms of combination of textures but really just too heavy for me.
The place is lovely and atmospheric although I personally find the tables to be pushed together a bit too closely for Covid-19 times. What is truly exquisite though is the care and friendliness of the service as they were attentive and made sure that you had everything you wanted / needed. Can definitely recommend you to come back here any time (booking in advance required).
