A unique and typical French bistro experience: Restaurant Le Relais de l’Entrecôte (1. December 2020)

| December 11, 2020 | 0 Comments

Let’s say, I’m generally speaking not the biggest fan of French cuisine but what they offer at the Le Relais de l’Entrecôte is definitely something which is quite unique to Zurich. There is just one thing on the menu. You started with a “mixed salad” with French dressing which is simple but good.

And then you get an “entrecôte with Café de Paris sauce” (CHF 42.00) prepared according to your gusto. So, all you have to let them know is if you want your entrecôte medium, medium-rare or rare. And I must say, I was at first bit surprised when I only got the plate you can see in the picture but it turns out there is a larger serving plate hidden at the central counter allowing you to get a second full serving. The meat was perfect in terms of cooking level and flavor, the sauce was pure sin, and the French fries were actually quite good too.

Now, usually you would go for one of the 20+ desserts they are offering but it turned out to be too much for a starter and the main course to end up there. But, if you’re into sweets, you should definitely give that a try as they looked very promising (on the homepage). The place is simple in terms of interior design but still somewhat appealing. Somehow like a typical French bistro. The service was friendly, swift, and very attentive making sure your water and wine glass would never actually be empty. The place wasn’t really that full, so I suppose it is not a must to book a table in advance, however, assuming things will get better with Covid-19 eventually, it might make sense to book in advance.
