Definitely a hyped place – not worth the visit: Restaurant #SaltBae Burger DIFC (17. March 2021)

Since I’ve paid Nusr-et a visit, it was also time to pay it’s other joint a visit – called #SaltBae Burger. And in all fairness, it’s definitely a hyped place. I mean, the “beef tacos (slow roasted beef ribs, guacamole, tomato salsa, home-made spicy sauce, sour cream)” (AED 130) looked decent but, of course, didn’t have anything to do with real tacos but were, no surprise, the TexMex version of it. Not bad in terms of flavors and combination of ingredients, but just not that exquisite.

The “fried zucchini (deep-fried zucchini, parmesan cheese, ranch sauce)” (AED 45) on the other hand were actually surprisingly enjoyable. I mean, of course it was mainly zucchini which was fried – and, therefore, rather oily. However, together with the dip sauce, it was actually enjoyable.

Now, the “blue burger (wagyu beef, blue cheese, crispy onion)” (AED 130) was something I am not quite sure on how to rank. I mean, the meat patty was good although more done than medium. The taste of the burger is generally good, however, the blue cheese was just somewhat overwhelming and really just taking out all the other flavors. Something which I would definitely not consider as enjoyable. What I liked was that you get plastic gloves to eat your burger so in the end, your hands are clean but you can really dig in when eating.

The “SaltBae special (fresh pomegranate juice, lychee, passion fruit)” (AED 40) on the other hand is very enjoyable. A refreshing and good drink! Something I can definitely recommend you to order.

So, all in all, the #SaltBae Burger is a place you can go. But not a place I would recommend you to go. It’s a lot about the hype about this guy, but not a justified one. While Nusr-et actually serves delicious meat, the burgers at #SaltBae Burger are rather average, respectively the blue burger is definitely served with way too much blue cheese for it to remain enjoyable.
