Definitely worth visiting for the experience and the atmosphere: Restaurant The London Project (18. March 2021)

Last time I’ve been to Bluewaters, I ended up catching Corona after. Therefore, I was somewhat not fond of returning to the area but as fate had it, I ended up there again. And I must say, The London Project is actually a very enjoyable location – it is atmospheric, nice in terms of interior design and the waiter was doing a damn fine job! Kudos to the Greek guy! :)

As a starter we went for a shared “tartar of grass-fed beef (potato gratin, avocado & pickled shimeji mushrooms)” (AED 85) which was good. But somehow the potato to beef ratio was a bit off (way too much potato for my personal gusto). However, the tartar was actually enjoyable and definitely something one can try when dining here.

The “kaffir lime & ancho chili squid (crispy fried squid, fresh chili, snap peas, nuoc cham dipping sauce)” (AED 65) on the other hand was relatively boring. I mean, yeah, there was taste, and there was a bit of crispiness but all in all, the squid wasn’t among the better ones I have tried in my life.

The “flatbread wagyu pancia (locally made pancia, home-made tomato sauce, red onion, mozzarella, garlic confit)” (AED 115) was good in terms of flavor. However, for me, it was really kind of a pizza but just less heavy. Let’s say like a pizza which is done in Italy with not that much cheese. But, it was good. Can easily be taken as a main though too in terms of size.

As a main, I went for the “beer battered fish & chips (battered cod, chunky chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce)” (AED 125) and while it was good, I must say, I prefer the small fish crisps much better. You know, the ones where you just have one bite and then you get the whole thing in your mouth. The big chunk of fish with the batter is good and actually nice in terms of getting more actual fish. But for me, if you order fish crisps, you want them to be crispy. And well, like that, they are less crispy. However, all in all, it was a decent dish.

What I liked a lot as the initial drink. The “Citrus Tipple (a symphony of fresh citrus notes sweeping solos of sweet passion fruit resonate as a balanced and refreshing gin & tonic)” (AED 79) is basically a DIY drink where you get all the different ingredients and then you have to mix them. And in this case, it is not only fun to mix them but they actually end up being a very good drink!

So, to sum it up, The London Project is definitely a place I can recommend you to visit. However, make sure you book a table in advance as else you won’t stand a chance to get a table on a Thursday evening or during the weekend.
